Newmarket and the Nissan NV

We spent the last two days up in Newmarket visiting with my brother, Jimmy and Sue.  Before we left for Newmarket I was gathering the laundry to take with us.  In our fifth wheel we have a laundry shoot.  The shoot looks like a cupboard, but when you open it up there is a hole in the floor and below that hole is the laundry basket.  Imagine my surprise when I opened up the door and saw this!

After I recovered from this frightful experience, we loaded the laundry into the car and headed up to Newmarket.  Newmarket is a town in the York Region which is part of the Greater Toronto area.  The population at 80,000 is somewhat smaller then Abbotsford and even Guelph.  It is about an hour and 15 minute drive from Guelph to Newmarket.  As you drive into Newmarket on Highway 9, you pass through a beautiful lush green belt which is the outskirts of Holland Landing.  It is rich with vegetables growing even at this time of year.

We arrive at Jimmy and Sue's place and are welcomed with a nice cold beer.  After catching up on family news we are soon joined by Amanda, Jeff and family.  Amanda is my niece and Jeff is her husband.  They arrive at the house in the biggest passenger van that I have ever seen!  This van looks like a misshapen Nissan Cube!  It is a Nissan NV3500, which is usually reserved for hauling around cargo.  People?  Not so much.

Amanda and Jeff require a vehicle of this size as they "currently" have 5 kids.  Four gorgeous girls and one cute little boy!  Notice the word "currently" is used, and that is because they are not certain if they are finished having kids and as this van is a 12 seater, I think they should not need to buy anything bigger if they increase their family. Lets keep our fingers crossed that the price of fuel does not get to high!  Seriously this group of kids get along very well and rarely cause their mother problems.  The funniest thing we saw was little 2 year old Reid running around with his sunglasses upside down and growling, chasing 4 year old Cadence who was running away screaming!!  You had to be there!  This picture is Reid and Cadence minutes later once again happily playing in the sandbox!

We had a great couple of days at Jimmy's and met lots of their friends, in particular was a couple Greg and Theresa.  For some unknown reason Ray kept on calling Theresa, Trisha.  And Jeff called her Rita.  By the end of the night I did not even know who I was talking to!

Jimmy and Sue are amazing hosts.  They open up their house to whoever is dropping by and their is a constant flow of people.  After two nights of partying we bid our farewells and headed back to Guelph to spend our last night.  Once again Alisha is spending the night camping our in the trailer with us!

Tomorrow we head to Manilla to visit with our good friend Nancy for a night or two.  I will leave you tonight with this last photo of my baby brother Jimmy and his wife Sue.
